Sheer Genius

{ Victorias Secret dress; F21 top & headband; Coach wedges; gifted ring and necklace }

I have recently jumped on the sheer trend. One of the reasons it took so long for me to give in to sheer is because you usually have to wear something under it (I'm not cool enough to only wear a bra, haha!), and Texas is so hot that we try to wear the least amount of clothes as possible. That sounds bad. But you get it.

I bought this top in a turquoise color which I wore here on a more chilly day. But now that we're nearing April, I had to find a way to style this top and still keep cool which brings me to my dress. I adore the print of this dress, it's so vibrant & fun! But the chest area is so low cut (it may be hard to tell) that when I breath it's like, Va va voom! Not my thing. So the top actually helped cover it and made me feel more comfortable! Like I said, genius.

Fancy That Friday; The Hunger Games

I cannot think of anyone better to play Katniss than Jennifer Lawrence! Love her.

This is amazing! I wish I had the right kind of makeup for this...

A Hunger Games themed wedding?? Now that's a huge fan!

People don't understand how bad I want to throw one of these!

I should have done this for the premiere! Maybe next time...

This is so silly but it actually made me laugh a few times :P

Perfect way to make any girl swoon. Well, at least me.

Bloopers of 2011

Let's face it, taking outfit shots isn't always as serious as fashion bloggers make it appear, so to prove it, I thought I'd share some of my own not-so-glamorous moments from past outfits I took last year. Each number is linked to the actual blog post! Enjoy my awkwardness!

1. This guy toally photobombed me. Grrrrr.
2. I didn't even notice that little devil behind me! Whoops.
3. Blink much?
4. I freak out when I hear a buzzz by my ear. It could've been a fly for all I know.
5. I was talking in this picture; Trae had to tell me to quit it, ha!
6. Me making fun of the way I pose and possibly trying to suck in my gut.
7. The wind AKA my worst enemy. Curse you!
8. These hats are so in right now.
9. Trae said, "you look pretty," and I responded with this face.
10. I'm not sure what I'm doing. Maybe trying to be a flamingo?

Capitol Couture

{ F21 top, shorts, & belt; Target sandals; thrifted bracelets; gifted sunnies }

This past Sunday, my spirit group and I took a trip down to our Texas Capitol! I can't believe I've lived in this great city for 3 years but have never paid a visit to the capitol! I thought we were going to have to drive there, but it turns out it's only a 5 minute walk from my university! Who knew?

We all got some Chipotle (burritos anyone?) take-out for lunch and ate on the capitol's front lawn. It was such a nice day out; I'm glad I made myself go instead of spending my usual Sunday cooped up in my bed haha. After lunch, we went inside for a formal tour and got to see the Senate room and the House of Representatives room where all state laws are discussed. It was an awesome experience!

Two Years

Brace yourselves, I'm about to get mushy up in here.

I can't believe how time flies. It doesn't feel like too long ago when I first saw the boy with the curly hair walk into my friend's party where I like to say is when we "officially" met. We talked about things we had in common like music, video games, and cartoons we used to watch. I had just gotten out of a long-term relationship, so I thought if we ever became an item, it wouldn't get as far as it has.

Obviously, I was proven wrong. The past two years have brought some of the greatest moments I've ever shared with another person. I consider myself one of the luckiest girls in the world to have found someone so genuine and caring. I'm very excited to see what adventures the upcoming years have to bring us, and I know he'll be there with me every step of the way. Love you, babe.

Picasso

{ F21 dress, belt & bracelet; River Island necklace; GoJane wedges }

Trae and I's two year anniversary is tomorrow! Since he has to go back to San Antonio today, we decided to celebrate last night. We went to a seafood restaurant called Perla's and had their oysters, scallops, and swordfish. Yummmm. I was so stuffed! We then got some ice cream and walked around South Congress (a street with tons of restaurants, shops, bars, boutiques, and food trucks). Fun!

Trae got me this dress for Christmas this past year, and I absolutely adore it! I don't have many long-sleeved dresses, so it's nice to wear something different for a change. Is it just me, or do all these colors on one dress make me look like a Picasso painting? Meh. I still dig it.

The Girl on Fire

{ gifted top; F21 skirt, belt & necklace; Target shoes; fredflare.com tights }

I hate how my pictures look indoors, but these were taken at night so I didn't have a choice! So sorry for the horrible lighting. Blehh. But now you have a small glimpse into my tiny apartment haha! The doors behind me and to my right are my two roommates' rooms!

I wore this last night right before going to see The Hunger Games movie! I wanted to wear colors (check the nails!) that enveloped the main character's metaphor as "The Girl On Fire," and I added a feather necklace to represent the Mockingjay bird! I was going to do a side braid like Katniss' hair, but my layers just weren't having it. If you have no idea what I'm talking about (or if you live under a rock), you should definitely read the books!

Fancy That Friday: Color-Blocking

Love this bold color-block dress. The girl has got style!

I've had a problem buying too much colored denim lately... this is why!!

I love how the neutral-toned blazer adds balance to the vibrant colors!

I really need to get my hands on a pink blazer. sigh.

Pastel color-blocking? Yes yes yes.

Bluebonnets

{ American Eagle top; Francesca's skirt; F21 belt & headband; Target wedges; White House Black Market bag }

Spring has sprung, and one of my favorite things about this season is all the bluebonnets that come out! They are the official flowers of Texas, and they are literally everywhere. In my backyard, near school, on the side of the highway, under my bed, etc. Okay, maybe not that last one, but you get the point.

The bluebonnets inspired my outfit for today! This was the only skirt I found on sale at Francesca's that wasn't a size Large. In the past, I have bought clothes too big for me simply because I loved them so much that I was willing to put up with the discomfort. I always regret it, so now I constantly have to remind myself to only get my size and nothing else. I lucked out with this find!

SXSW 2012

As promised, here is a quick recap of my time at SXSW! Trae and I were planning to see his friend's band (shown in the last picture) who were playing down on 6th street at a place called Key Bar. We arrived downtown a few hours early to enjoy the sights (not so much the smells) and get some grub. Street food is the best kind in Austin!

I used to think you needed tickets to see live music during SXSW, but that only applies to the famous names like The Shins, Counting Crows, etc. But there was music all around us! We had a great time hopping from show to show checking out the local bands. So much talent in one city!

Why Not Both?

{ F21 top, shorts, belt, necklace & sandals; Aldo sunnies; gifted bracelets }

Well, it happened. Against my will, but it happened. I was clinging to my apartment by my teeth and nails, but Trae finally got me to go into downtown Austin during South by Southwest (SXSW). I loathe crowds, especially the sweaty drunk kind that reek of smoke and feet. Shockingly though, I ended up having an awesome time which I will share with ya'll tomorrow!

Before leaving, Trae told me not to wear heels (I wasn't going to anyway, that would be silly) because SXSW "is not a fashion show." Psh, I beg to differ; there was inspiration everywhere! Part of me felt under-dressed. Trae told me to "dress comfortably, not fashionably." I don't think the two have to be mutually exclusive at all, wouldn't you agree?
