ACL (Austin City Limits) 2012

Finally, another thing to cross off my bucket list! I've been wanting to go to ACL since I moved to Austin almost four years ago. It's basically the most famous three-day music festival in all of Texas! I didn't even think I was going until Trae sent me a text of a photo of the wristbands to get in! I was so excited!! Happy early birthday to me!

We were there for almost ten hours. YOU GUYS. TEN HOURS. I've never done anything continuously for ten hours. When I checked the weather, it said Austin was going to be cloudy for the day with a slight chance of rain. What happens when we get there? SUNSHINE. No clouds in sight. Uh, what? I didn't pack any sunscreen... Oh God.

So other than the epic b**** slap I received from the sun, the festival was amazing! I got to see lots of my favorite artists including Kimbra, Two Door Cinema Club, Childish Gambino, and (of course) the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I also got to check out some new bands I enjoyed like The Features, Freelance Whales, and The Lumineers. Everyone was pure awesome.

After all is said and done, I would say that the sunburn, over-crowding, long lines, and mixed smells of weed and manure were totally worth it. Now excuse me while I go drench my skin in Aloe Vera Gel.

SXSW 2012

As promised, here is a quick recap of my time at SXSW! Trae and I were planning to see his friend's band (shown in the last picture) who were playing down on 6th street at a place called Key Bar. We arrived downtown a few hours early to enjoy the sights (not so much the smells) and get some grub. Street food is the best kind in Austin!

I used to think you needed tickets to see live music during SXSW, but that only applies to the famous names like The Shins, Counting Crows, etc. But there was music all around us! We had a great time hopping from show to show checking out the local bands. So much talent in one city!

That time I cooked something from scratch

Recipe found here.

Let's get something straight. I never cook... like, ever. My cooking capabilities reach as far as sticking a frozen pizza in the oven or boiling water for some ramen noodles. Being a college student has its limits, and time management is pretty difficult for me to achieve. The result is me just sticking with what I know everyday in order to keep me living which includes an array of cereal, sandwhiches, cookies, and hot cheetos. Talk about a balanced meal.

That being said, I really wanted to take the time to actually cook something. From scratch. No frozen pre-made foods accepted. I was feeling Italian that night so I found a reasonable recipe on Pinterest for Chicken Parmesan and set to it. It said it only takes 30 minutes to prepare and bake, but it took me about an hour haha. Not sure why. I guess I didn't wanna screw up? Anyway, I added some spaghetti and salad as a side and taa daaaa! Mission accomplished. And I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I must say it was pretty tasty. :) Are any of y'all cooking experts? Props if you are!

My First Frat Party

Another thing to cross off my bucket list! My spirit group organized a mixer with the TKE fraternity (yeah, I don't know what it stands for...oops), and we had a blast! We met up at our friend's apartment before all heading to the frat-house together. I basically just hung out and danced with my girls all night. Some guys were cool to talk to, and others were just major creepers haha. We tried to avoid those kind of guys as much as possible. Also, the photos aren't as nice because I didn't want to risk bringing my DSLR camera and breaking it, so I just took my little point-and-shoot.

If you're wondering what's with all the red, the theme of the party was "Heaven and Hell." That top was basically the only red thing I have in my apartment closet (most of my clothes are back at my house in my hometown), and I don't have any nice white tops. So I just added some purple in the mix with my new leopard heels (which I adore) and there ya go! I left a bit early since I had to get up early this morning, but it was a great time nevertheless :)

p.s.// This is my first time wearing red lips in public, yay or nay?

Viva Las Vegas

For my 21st birthday, my parents treated me & Trae with a three day trip to Las Vegas! This was back in December right before Christmas by the way; I had just forgotten to mention it! I have been to Vegas a few times before, but I was never of age to do any gambling! I only played the slot machines because I have no idea how to play those high-stake card games haha. But hey, I won 80 bucks, and Trae won $40! He had never been to Vegas before, so we had fun exploring the city and showing him all the awesome hotels. I can now mark gambling in Vegas off my to-do list! :)

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I know it's been forever since I last blogged, and for that I'm sorry! This semester is proving to be harder than I thought; even now as I type this I have three books I should be reading and endless pages worth of homework to be done! I haven't even had time to check out my favorite style blogs, so I've probably missed out on more than I'd like to admit.

BUT moving on to the point of this post, last weekend I finally got to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and let me just say it was AMAZING!! I've never had so much fun at a theme park in my life! Whoever designed and constructed the buildings did it perfectly. I even got to try Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice (if you read HP, you know what I'm talkin' about) for the first time! I took so many pictures, but I thought I'd just share with yall my faves to save you some time ;)
