Remix Roundup: Valentine's Day Outfits

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

I still can't believe we're already in the second month of the year! If you're like most girls, you've probably already started planning your outfit for February 14th (guilty). I don't really do anything to celebrate Valentine's Day, but I've always enjoyed having another excuse to dress up! I, like most people, usually go for something pink or red, but I also like to throw in a black & white print such as polka dots, houndstooth, or even stripes! Only one of these outfits I've listed was actually worn on V Day (the one with the red coat), but the others could work just as well!

What are you planning to wear this year? Red? Pink? Some other random color? All black? Do you not care? No judgement here.

All is Merry and Bright

{ f21 top, skirt, & boots; Marshall's tights; mom's cardigan; bow c/o Shop Pretty Lovely }

So this is what I wore for Christmas! I wanted something that screamed "HOLLY JOLLY", and I think I nailed it with gold and plaid. I love this color combo for the holidays! I was reluctant to take outfit pics indoors, but I really wanted some photos with my parents' Christmas tree. And also, it was way too hot/sunny to be outside, but that's Texas for ya. "White Christmas"? What's that? :P

Trick or Treat

{ f21 top, skirt & ring; Target cardigan; Francesca's heels; hand-me-down bag }

Happy Halloween! You may be wondering why I'm not wearing a costume for this post as other (and smarter) bloggers are doing today. Truth is, my "costume" is so lame this year that I didn't bother. But if you're dying to know, just picture some cat ears on me in these photos. Anti-climactic, I know!

One thing I really miss about Halloween from the ol' days is trick-or-treating! I can't even remember when I stopped. It's like suddenly I felt like a creep dressing up and asking strangers for candy. I don't think trick-or-treating will be socially acceptable for me until I have my own kids someday! For now I'll just have to stick to trick-or-treating at Walmart... and then paying them for the candy.

Pleated Peplum

{ f21 top/earrings; Francesca's shorts; Old Navy flats; mom's Coach bag; vintage watch/ring }

I've always been a fan of pleats, but I've never seen them in peplum form until I saw this top on one of my favorite bloggers. I checked where she got it: JCrew. Ugh. That store is just a hopeful daydream that maybe one day I'll actually be able to afford something from it. I have to actually avoid the side of the mall where JCrew is so that I won't be tempted to go in! (Help me, I'm poor.)

Thankfully, I found what looked close enough to the exact same thing at Forever 21 for waaay less! As in, less than half the price I would have paid at JCrew. I love when that happens, don't you? It's like an "In your face!" moment to name brands haha ;)

Houndstooth Perfection

{ ASOS dress | F21 belt | hand-me-down heels }

I've had this dress since last summer but haven't worn it until now. It's one of those dresses that hangs in my closet for months because I don't want to wear it to just anything. It may not look like much, but it's more of the fit and style of the dress that I just adore. It's perfect! I finally freed the garment from hiding for my college senior portraits taken a couple weeks months ago (still playing catch up!), and I just love the result!

Productive

{ F21 blazer & clutch | Agaci top & skirt | GoJane booties | Target sunnies }

You wouldn't know it was winter by looking at these pictures, right? We had a break from the freezing bleak weather, and the sun actually came out! It had been awhile, so I made myself put on actual going-out clothes and make an effort to do my hair. It was a productive day.

Petal Pusher

{ Old Navy tee | Wet Seal jeans & blazer | Target heels & bag | F21 bracelet | vintage watch/rings }

These floral jeans have been sitting in my closet for months waiting patiently for fall to arrive. Then when fall actually came, they had to wait even longer as it was still way too hot to cover up my legs. These were sad times.

But this glorious day has finally come! For some reason I deemed it appropriate to pair my floral textured blazer with these pants as well. Perhaps this outfit was better suited for spring, but my love for floral jeans and wanting to show them off just could not be contained!

Yes-Brainer

{ F21 top, belt, hat, & rings | Target skirt | Steve Madden wedges | gifted clutch }

You would think a black maxi-skirt would be a no-brainer in terms of styling, but it actually required more brain power than I had originally planned on using. I'm not sure if it's because of the material or the fact that I feel it clinging to all the wrong places, but I just can't seem to figure it out.

You may be thinking, "why did you buy it then?" Well folks, when Target offers you 75% off an already marked-down price on something, you just can't say no. Believe me, I tried.

Finals

{ F21 top & bag | skirt c/o eShakti | Kohls wedges | vintage jewelry }

I wore this outfit during my visit back home over Thanksgiving break. It seems unfair to call it a break though. It felt so rushed! I had to arrive Wednesday morning just to leave Thursday night for my final college football game as an undergrad. I'm trying to cherish all these "final things" before graduating in May (gulp). Plus I have actual finals to worry about as well. Ugh.

Anyway, I'm kind of in love with the way this skirt pulls this whole look together. The company that made this skirt are able to custom design the length and fit you want your clothes to be. I wanted the skirt to be high-waist and fall exactly to my knees, so they made it happen! You can check out the rest of their gorgeous selections by clicking on the following banner!

Flip-Flop

{ F21 top & shorts | Cato cardigan | GoJane wedges | vintage belt & watch | Target bag}

As I type this, I am simultaneously scowling at my local weather man on TV. I have this theory that he is the one secretly making this crazy flip-flop weather. "Oh, you finally took the time to unpack all your winter clothes? Here's a bit more sunshine and warm weather for ya. You're welcome." Not cool!

I know I talk a lot about the weather on my blog, but as a Texan, I'm contractually obligated to mention it at least ten times on a daily basis. There's nothing I can do, guys. Let's just try to be civil about this.
