That time I cooked something from scratch

Recipe found here.

Let's get something straight. I never cook... like, ever. My cooking capabilities reach as far as sticking a frozen pizza in the oven or boiling water for some ramen noodles. Being a college student has its limits, and time management is pretty difficult for me to achieve. The result is me just sticking with what I know everyday in order to keep me living which includes an array of cereal, sandwhiches, cookies, and hot cheetos. Talk about a balanced meal.

That being said, I really wanted to take the time to actually cook something. From scratch. No frozen pre-made foods accepted. I was feeling Italian that night so I found a reasonable recipe on Pinterest for Chicken Parmesan and set to it. It said it only takes 30 minutes to prepare and bake, but it took me about an hour haha. Not sure why. I guess I didn't wanna screw up? Anyway, I added some spaghetti and salad as a side and taa daaaa! Mission accomplished. And I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I must say it was pretty tasty. :) Are any of y'all cooking experts? Props if you are!

Mother Wears Best

{ Francescas cardigan; F21 belt; Target pants & booties; H&M bag }

I have a confession to make; I totally stole this cardigan from my mother's closet. I was with her when she bought it from Francescas and envied her from the moment we left the boutique. It's probably my favorite piece in her closet (I go treasure-hunting in there sometimes) that she owns.

 I'm not the only thief in the family though - sometimes my mom likes to take my shoes without asking. I don't mind though; same shoe size equals double my shoe options! Unfortunately, we don't have the same body shapes so thankfully this cardi is very loose and flowy, so it's able to fit both of us! Yay for fashionable moms! ;)

Time Travel

{ F21 dress, belt, sandals, & cardigan; Kohls bracelet }

I must have traveled forward in time to the month of May because winter has seemed to disappear. I mean, a dress with sandals and no tights or jacket? I promise your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Texas reached a whopping 88 degrees recently! It's the hottest weather we've had since October according to my local news.

If you live in Texas, you know how our state has major mood swings on a daily basis meaning you never know what to wear for that day because the weather is always changing! I think this image I found says it best. While many were complaining about the lack of chill in the air, I was loving the break from the cold! Is it summer yet?

Skyline

{ Express sweater; Target jeans; GoJane boots; Old Navy bag; Aldo sunglasses; vintage belt }

I think I've found my new favorite place to take outfit photos. How can you not love that Austin skyline? It makes me proud to live in such a vibrant city that some people can only dream about. I am blessed! I found this spot while going to the mall and parking on the opposite side of where we usually park. I couldn't believe I had never seen it before. I got some questioning glances from onlooking shoppers passing by in the parking lot, but as the custodian in the food-court told me that day, "haters gonna hate." Indeed.

It seems these jeans have become a bit popular with the fashion-bogging world. I saw the exact same pair on three other girls worn here, here, and here. At first I was hesitant to buy such a bold print for jeans thinking, "when the hell am I ever going to wear these?" But seeing them styled so differently in three examples makes me feel a lot more confident with my purchase. Target never fails me! Part of me even wants to go back and buy the gray ones! Can I resist...?

Fancy That Friday; Funky Footwear

I found all these wacky shoes on Pinterest, and they gave me quite a laugh (and nightmares), so I thought I'd share them with you for todays Fancy That Friday!

Well, that's one way to ward off a man.

It's a mystery to me how girls can walk in these.

What is going on I don't even...

Boxing glove shoes? They look fit for a clown!

Armed and dangerous?

I wasn't sure if they were serious at first.

I actually kind of liked these until I saw the back.

The only acceptable time to wear these is if you're dressed as a cop for Halloween.

As if heels weren't already hard enough to walk in...

For all you wolf fans out there?

Happy Dance

{ Old Navy cardigan; gifted top; F21 jeans, boots, & necklace; Aldo sunnies }

Sometimes when I'm really happy, I burst out into a kind of spinning whirl of excitement mixed in with some Carlton style jigs that I just labeled my "happy dance." I know, I'm corny, but I'm pretty sure everyone has their own little form of a happy dance. What's yours? Don't act like you don't have one.

Today we had a warm sunny day in Austin as opposed to the cold and dreary rain we've been getting the past couple of weeks. I can't think of a more appropriate reason to start busting a move in public. I'm hoping Texas can make it to spring without ever really having a winter (yes, I loathe the cold)!

My First Frat Party

Another thing to cross off my bucket list! My spirit group organized a mixer with the TKE fraternity (yeah, I don't know what it stands for...oops), and we had a blast! We met up at our friend's apartment before all heading to the frat-house together. I basically just hung out and danced with my girls all night. Some guys were cool to talk to, and others were just major creepers haha. We tried to avoid those kind of guys as much as possible. Also, the photos aren't as nice because I didn't want to risk bringing my DSLR camera and breaking it, so I just took my little point-and-shoot.

If you're wondering what's with all the red, the theme of the party was "Heaven and Hell." That top was basically the only red thing I have in my apartment closet (most of my clothes are back at my house in my hometown), and I don't have any nice white tops. So I just added some purple in the mix with my new leopard heels (which I adore) and there ya go! I left a bit early since I had to get up early this morning, but it was a great time nevertheless :)

p.s.// This is my first time wearing red lips in public, yay or nay?

Heart Day Happenings

I didn't have time to post this last night, but Trae and I had a fun Valentine's Day! He got me some yummy chocolate strawberries from Edible Arrangements which, I must say, are my absolute fave; they are delicious! I want to save them for as long as I can. He also happened to find the most perfect of cards that describes us to a T haha.

We went out downtown to our favorite sushi place and pretty much stuffed ourselves to the brim. Because sushi is so light, I never know when I'm full so I basically just eat until someone tells me I'm making a scene. Classy, right?

When we got home, I found the cutest (and easiest) recipe on my Pinterest that only required three ingredients: pretzels, "hugs", and pink/red m&m's. It takes just 5 minutes to make! All you have to do is place some pretzels on a baking pan with some parchment paper underneath, place a hug on each pretzel, then stick in the oven for about three minutes (oven set to 200 degrees). Take it out, place an m&m on each of the slightly-melted hug, and then put the pan in the fridge for a few more minutes. That's it! They are super yummy and addicting, so be careful not to eat yourself into a coma!

What did you guys do for Valentine's Day?

Three's Company

I spent my Friday night with two of my very good friends, Rene and Jorge. We went to my favorite place for wings (I always get the lemon pepper flavor, yumm) and got some dessert over at Amy's Ice Cream. I loved their decorated blackboard so much I just had to take a picture. I wish I could draw that well!

Jorge has the same camera as me but with a different lens, so we decided to switch our lenses for a week just for fun. I like how his has a zoom! Something my camera lacks. We had planned to go watch the movie "Drive" back at my apartment, but it ended up getting super late to the point where I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore, so we passed on that. Nevertheless, it was nice hanging out with them as always :)
